Woman accused of stealing police cruiser seen wearing a motorcycle helmet, pulling sword on officers

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WFIE/Gray News) - A woman accused of stealing a police cruiser was seen wearing a motorcycle helmet and allegedly pulled a sword on officers in Kentucky.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputies said 31-year-old Nina Devillez led police on a multi-state chase Monday morning. She is charged with evading police, criminal trespass, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in Kentucky. According to Indiana State Police, Warrick County Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver on State Road 62. A Chandler police officer tried to stop the car, but the driver kept going.

Troopers said the vehicle eventually stopped after crashing into a ditch in Chandler, Indiana.Devillez, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, exited her vehicle and started waving a sword at an officer. Indiana State Police said the officer shot Devillez at least once. Devillez then got inside the officer’s patrol vehicle and drove towards Boonville, Indiana.

Police lost contact with the police cruiser until a Rockport Police officer spotted the vehicle traveling south on US 231 in Indiana. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the Devillez continued to travel south at speeds of more than 120 mph, according to police. Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said they received the call saying Devillez was leading police over the William Natcher Bridge. Devillez later crashed into an open field while on US-60 near Terminal Road, according to police.

Devillez then ran away from authorities and was eventually tased and taken into custody, according to police. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said Devillez was bleeding heavily from several gunshot wounds in their chest. Devillez was taken to the hospital. She remains in custody at the hospital and is receiving medical treatment. Devillez will be taken to and booked at the Daviess County Detention Center when she is released from the hospital.

According to court records, she was charged with seven felonies in November, including attempted murder, battery and criminal confinement in Lawrence County, Indiana.

I'm not mourning the loss of Seattle, but I used to enjoy a weekend at the waterfront, catching a ballgame, going to the Pike Street Market; it was one of the great cities of America if not the world. The renovation along the waterfront, the addition to the Aquarium (I bring kids for field trips annually) is beautiful-be even moreso if you didn't have to dodge panhandlers and druggies trying to get a group of 30 kids in the door.

It's fucking sad, I miss those forays into the city.
