May Day!

Post by bungle clone »

Per Google:

May Day has two main meanings. It can refer to the ancient European spring festival celebrated on May 1st, and it's also known as International Workers' Day, a day dedicated to workers' rights and labor. In the United States, while not a federal holiday, May Day is observed by some labor organizations and groups as a day to advocate for workers' rights and social justice.
May Day as a Spring Festival:
May Day has roots in ancient pagan traditions, particularly in Europe, marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of summer.
Traditional celebrations include gathering green branches and flowers, decorating homes, erecting maypoles, and dancing around them.
May Day is also associated with the Celtic festival of Beltane and the ancient Roman festival of Floralia.
May Day as International Workers' Day:
International Workers' Day (also known as Labor Day in some countries) is a day to recognize the contributions and struggles of workers.
It is a day for labor movements to raise awareness about issues facing workers, advocate for better working conditions, and demand fair treatment.
While not a federal holiday in the United States, many labor organizations and activists use May Day to organize rallies, demonstrations, and other actions to promote workers' rights.

Today is for solidarity with the workers of the world!

free the members of the proletariat like Clonewolf from the bonds of servitude!

liberate HighPlainsCapitalistPig's many slaves!

crush the bourgeois intelligentsia like 88 and Roux in brutal re-education camps with merciless indoctrination!

make "The City" m2 touts into Phnom Penh circa 1975!

According to Reddit, Hitler died on this day 80 years ago. And then the Boomers stole everyone's wealth.

Good one, Diego.

ahem, speaking of which...

C'mon HPG, you can take just a few minutes of your day at some point to throw down with more work stories. Yes, I know, the lower classes won't exploit themselves, and you have deadlines, but think of the poor huddled masses here on this board who need nutrients...

Not quite the solidarity I was expecting from the world's newest maunufacturing juggernaut.
Blast furnaces got you down?
Chin up comrades, back to the foundry. Rubber dog poo and Whoppee cusions don't just make themselves, think of the smiles on all those Asian children's faces.

C'mon, HPG can't really enjoy a good meal unless he sees some starving masses wasting away.

Sam and m2 you deserve the penalty box for recycling the same ol' too much. Please give "Nebraska" and "wind chime" a rest.

Both of you are better than that.

Happy *almost* birthday!
I'll be 70 (still haven't quite come to terms with that).

How do you like having to share your birthday(s) with Mothers Day (I was born on Mothers Day)? Even in some years when it doesn't fall on the same day.

She's still not happy with it to this day. But clearly I've done something right if she's kept me around for 20 years (married for nearly 18) and she doesn't have "her day" anymore. But I just remind her it is what makes us a unique couple. Name another couple that was born exactly one year apart to the day? There have been a couple years where our birthday and Mother's Day are the same. But we make the most of it.
