Women Choke
Sweden win the semi-final in a shootout. The States couldn't even put one single shot in the net, they pulled martein out twice and still couldn't capitalize :(

Damn it the women are the only teams that still win team skill sports for the States. Show them some fucking respect for God's sake. They put out more effort and actually care about brining home medals. And I'm not just talking Hockey, I'm talking basketball, and baseball/softball.Mainiac wrote:It's women's hockey. Sorry, I stopped pulling for all things American in the Olympics about 15 years ago. I like to see good sports played well, it doesn't matter who it is. Women's hockey is a good sport played shittily. There's no checking for fuck's sake, what self-respecting hockey fan would watch that shit?
I suppose you guys are sitting on the edge of your seats pulling for the American curling team just 'cause they're Americans.

...and I'm also pulling for the Russians in the men's tourney because they are fun to watch.

I don't find curling very entertaining but if I had to watch, I'd root for our teams. They haven't done anything wrong. I'm not going to not root for them just because I'm not a follower of their respective sports. It's an overly-patriotic mentality but you want all of the athletes from your country to be the best in world...as long as they are doing it within the rules.

Have you seen the women's curling team? I would bend Cassie over the nearest stationary object to say the least. You should be rooting for the women's curling team just in the hopes that they pull a Soccer Celebration if they win.

I have been trying to find some pics of the women of Curling Calender that is supposed to be coming out. What they showed of it on CNBC (I think) was enough to make me a fan of the sport. A couple of other countries have a cute girl or three as well.

That pretty much sums up the Oly's to a T.Shoalzie:
It's an overly-patriotic mentality
Personal passions and hobby becomes some unholy global con job right of passage for the poor sap taxpayers to burden.
Anywho; if you can't beat 'em, you may as well join 'em...Go Canada 'cept for mens hockey.
Am I wrong...God, I hope so.
Womens hockey is utterly unwatchable.
I remember back in my AAA days, when they were first forming these teams and suggesting exibition matches with us and them (Calgary being Team Canada HQ). We we're pretty fired up to see how good these girls were but it didnt materialize until a few years later when I had moved past that level.
They play the exhibition games now against the city's quadrant Midget AA and AAA teams and lose as many if not more than they win.....sometimes badly.
The best women from across the country 18 and up regularly get worked by elite 15 - 16 years olds from one part of one city (nevermind some of the scarier rural teams).
These girls acting like hot shit and some type of worldbeaters is an absolute joke.
Fuck women's hockey.

By me; hockey is hockey, and hockey is a great game no matter what level it's played at when the teams are evenly matched.
I reacon I got as big of a thrill watching my nephews play as I did watching The Jets.
After Two, it's looking good for our girls.
Canada 4
Sweads 0
