So we've got a born-and-raised, proud to be U&Ler who aligns himself with the FUGGIN' Yankee collective?

If that's not the definition of "Fuckin' Ponderous" I don't know what is.

You're about 5 years behind, Magoo.

See, when I was a kid, there was no U&L baseball team.

When I was a little kid, it was a big deal catching Monday Night Baseball on the old black-and-white.

And Monday Night Baseball usually featured one of three teams -- the Dodgers, the Red Sox, or the Yankees.

Considering my choices, is it not abundantly clear how I came to be Yankeefan?

And no amount of shoving the Mariners down my throat will change that.

A good percentage of my buddies are Yankeefans, as well.

WTF are you talking about?

What part of "black and white television" and "no team in the U&L" did you not catch?

The A's were fairly dominant in that era, but the Bash Brothers were not too far-removed from diapers at the time.

And they weren't on my TV that much.

On the other hand, when I was a kid, the weekly NFL game was usually the Raiders or 49ers. As a youn'un, they were my respective favorites in their respective conferences...until Al pulled the bullshit Los Angeles extortion thing, then I said "screw the AFC...fucking losers." And before you make "gravytrainer" accusations, bear in mind that Joe Montana didn't play there, and the Niners featured a crippled OJ Simpson at the time.

NBA team....now THAT we had. Still do(arguably).

I'm suggesting you could've switched to that bandwagon.

Generally, I think that's ok as long as you stay on it...especially if it means switching from the Yankees.

I've rooted for Oakland since I was 9. I rarely watched them on TV at that age. My love for the team stemmed from my card collecting obsession and keeping up on the standings in the paper.

Then again, the A's/Giants dont have 20+ championships, so the reasoning for the choice is obvious.

I didn't realize the Bay Area was so much further "across the country" from the U&L.

And to answer your question, it's generally considered "uncool" to root for the Yankees outside of NY.

My math answer says 2 out of the last 2 times........

The question is:

How many times the Angels have assblasted the Yankees right out of the postseason this decade.

Just be thankful your shit team hasnt run into our fucking buzzsaw this entire century, or it'd be 5 of 5 as of right now.

Quick question -- are you retarded?

YOU -- root for the A's. You live in Michigan(although I have no idea where you lived in 1990, nor do I care).

I -- root for the Yanks. I live in Oregon.

Michigan = Long way from Oakland

Oregon = Long way from NY

So, I guess my next question would be -- would you care to take the marbles out of your mouth and make some sense?

Of course it is.

Especially when your area "has no team".

Basically, its a free fucking pass to bandwagon the team with the most championships or dominance as of late (see "patriot fans" across the U.S.)

Nevermind that the fucking Giants and A's are modestly close in distance to Dins (Nocal).

RJ -- I'll hold my breath waiting for the Angels to put a beating on the Yanks this postseason.

Serious question for both Magoo and Mangoo --

Can you read?

Seriously.

No "bandwagoning" involved.

What part of "Yankeefan since circa 1974" did you not catch? A 30 year rooting interest is "bandwagoning" in your world?

And RJ, PUHLEASE tell me a guy from San Diego who bases his screenname on the Raiders isn't cracking on me for not glomming on to the nearest team?

Stranger 1 comes up to me and asks, "So, who do you root for"?

I say, "The A's" and they say, "Oh, that's interesting. How come"?

Stranger 2 comes up to me and asks, "So, who do you root for?"

I say, "The Yankees" and they say, "Ahh. Gotcha. Of course".

You see, if you want to act like your kind is perceived as anything other than a giant douche from the rest of the baseball community, fine, have it your way. I'm sure you're secure in your admitted douchebagedness, but just know that when you choose to stoop to such a level, you are choosing to deal with the rejection and backlash that comes with it.

I was born and bred in L.A; and moved out here about 3 1/2 years ago.

Father had season tix to the Raiders throughout my childhood and teens (Of course, I went) and my mother was a Die hard Angel fan who took me to my first baseball game as a child (Father was a Dodger fan but baseball was always secondary to him)

So...that's a "no" on the "reading ability" thing?

When the Niners became "my team," they had ZERO Superbowls.

Disease
Famine
World War
Having my eyes gouged out by a Cicero lookalike
Seahawks
Intergalactic takeover by homosexual aliens for the purpose of making all male humans sex slaves
Reading another "take" from Magoo
Huskies

You're a misinformed dumbass. Here's why:

A) Until the california invasion began in the mid 80's, Oregonians didn't loathe californians.

You make "bandwagoning" accusation.

You don't provide one bit of evidence, be it factual or anecdotal, to support your claims.

The reason you fail to provide this evidence, is because it doesn't exist.

I've held the same rooting interests for my 5.5 years on these boards(and I can provide PLENTY of witnesses). I held those same rooting interests for ~25 years before that.

But, let's just take a look at what has gone down in this thread...

Rayduh James has questioned my rooting interests, and accused me of "bandwagoning"...

No, you did that for me when you played the "No team in my area" (which is bullshit-see A's, Giants, Seahawks) card as your reason for picking the winningest team in baseball and football.

So let me get this straight-the 49ers are A-OK to pick, but the fucking Giants and A's arent?

Think hard, now...

When I pledged my allegiance to the Niners(and wore my first Niner gear) the Niners were THE WORST team in the NFL...had been for a few years.

The A's are probably my second favorite team, and I always root for them over everyone but the Yanks. But, there's big big difference between #1 interest and #2.

RJ making it to Page 2 responding to me, complete with C&P quotes

Why root for someone close to you with NO championships, when you can root for the all time winners in each sport (Like I said, your lakers/celtics if they good again jersey is on the way)

PSSST! It wasn't clever or funny the first time.

But I suppose I should probably give a little creedence to what you've posted -- after all, who better to discuss bandwagoning with than someone who roots for a team that has boasted no less than three different locations in my lifetime...while never actually changing locations, merely changing some letters to try and bandwagon whichever set of gravytraining tools is willing to jump on their bandwagon next.

James, you don't per chance have an OG hair-scrunchy with an Angels logo on it, do you?

So Dins, how pissed were you when Brazil fell short?

I know, I know...you started rooting for them before soccer was even invented.
