Ok, so is mcafee any good?
it seems my computer is running slower, i check it, nothing!

Could just be from too much crap running in the background or from spyware. Mcafee is ok but not great. I'd go with Norton before I go with Mcafee personally but thats just me.
I would update your virus program and maybe check out one of the online web based virus programs as well. Run yours in the windows safe mode after you make sure its up to date. This way windows shouldn't be hiding/protecting the virus as if they were system files. Next run a spyware program, also up to date, on the PC in safe mode and see what that will find.
Also check out what loads (run 'msconfig' on windows XP) and see if some of it can be disabled.
Last but not least, check out the system performance information. See if you have enough memory and enough HD space. Speaking of HD space, make sure that your HD is defregmanted and that you don't have too many bad sectors. If everything checks out, you might want to just try to reinstall from scratch. If your performance research shows that there isn't enough memory, get some extra memory from Crucial. You might also consider upgrading your HD to something a little faster and bigger or try to re-partition your system drive.
