What the hell is up with Mogilny?

Post by Cicatrix »

Guy is third in points with NJ until Elias gets healthy and then is dropped like a hot rock back to the minors. And no one has picked him up yet?

I wish the Oil would fire Dvorak back into limbo and grab him. A right winger like that could only do good things.

I'm wondering if there was some kind of personality conflict going on or something that no one else wants a part of.

Anyone know anything?

nevermind that.

Major props to the Devils for keeping Elias and his dirty Euro skank drilling hepatitis debauchery out of the mainstream media.

Moginly has 25 points but he's 36 years old, and is -7 on the season. NJ was looking to shed salary so that they could activate Elias off of the IR. Mo's and his $3.5 mil contract had a giant bulleyes...

I believe that Devils are the winners of 8 straight, so it looks like it was the right move.

OK, but do they not have to honor the salary when they send his ass down to the minors?

And with the season half over why would no one be looking to pick him up at half price? Look at all the injuries out there. Just surprised no one is thinking of Mogilny as a quick/temp fix.

He is getting paid by the Devils. If he is called back up, he is subject to recall waivers, at which a team can pick him up for half the cap price.

My understanding of the CBA is that NJ still pays his salary, but it doesn't count against the cap. I'm not sure of the terms of his contract, would he br a temporary fix, or does he have multiple years left?

The other thing is that I believe that most GMs are wiating til after the Olympic break. Why pick anyone up today and be on the hook for the salary when they will be sitting for two weeks in Feburary.

Lowe's been burnt twice on washed up NHLers. He gambled and lost on Oats and Nedved.

If anything, Edmonton needs a goalie.

You know, I still have a fair bit of faith in Markkanen. Conklin no, but Jussi yes.

I'd feel better ditching Dvo and revamping the Defence (aside from Pronger, Staios and Smith).

I know that when you out shoot your opponent 2 to 1 and still lose that netminding is a problem but defensive discipline has been a bigger problem IMO.

I wouldn't trade M.A Bergeron or Matt Greene either, which means that we have a solid 5 d-men. They're young and learning. I'd trade Cross and Ulanov for a couple of rolls of hockey tape.

Edmonton is 2nd in the league for fewest shots allowed. Their d is fine. It's the netminders that are crap. Jussi is a good back up but he's proven he can't handle the starters roll.

And although Dvo isn't in my good books, how can you blame a guy who's been injured for a month? Torres has been healthy and not scoring and not agitating, so he's adds as much value as Laraques.
