Just wondering how you enjoyed your trip to the Ford Center last night

Sorry, been at my parent's working on my dad's PC. He had a ton of spyware and other bullshit.

The game was great, except for SA losing, of course.

We were in the upper balcony, toward the SE corner, about halfway up. It was an announced crowd of close to 20,000, and the PA dude said it was the largest crowd in the (short) history of the Ford Center to see a sporting event.

The only downer were these idiots sitting behind us who kept screaming "Spurs suck!" when everyone else was chanting "De-fense." They were screaming all kinds of "insightful" comments, part of them directed at myself and a bunch of other folks who were dressed in Spurs gear ... you know, things like "Horry, you're a pussy!" and "Duncan, you suck!" Then they started in on the "Hey, Spurs fans, go back home!" and "Hey, they're probably Texas fans, too!"

Leave it to a couple of fucking Oklahoma rednecks to bring the OU-Texas rivalry into everything, including an NBA game. :meds:

Some of the other Hornets fans were cool though. At halftime my bro-in-law and I went to have a smoke and talked with several folks about the game. I was surprised at how many other people were dressed in Spurs gear also. That was cool to see.

As for the game itself, I believe had Ginobili played, and had they not been playing the second of a back-to-back, it wouldn't even have been close. I think the Spurs were a little surprised at how well the Horents can play, as well as by the atmosphere -- it was freaking loud.

Also, I mostly watched Tony Parker and Chris Paul going at it -- that was kickass. Both of them are fast as fuck, and it was cool to see them try to outdo each other, at both ends.

Pop was totally complimentary about the team and the fans, as he should have been. I think he said something along the lines of "they played like champions tonight."

A couple of other things I noticed, both of which I could have done without ... for some reason during every single timeout, there was some kind of corporate promotion going on, masked as "crowd activity." For example, at one point, the PA announcer asked everyone in the crowd to "Show you MidFirst Bank signs!!!!" and people had signs they had made with the bank's logo and were holding them up and dancing around, and, of course, they'd show it on the big-screens, above center court. I usually don't have a problem with the fan interaction bullshit during timeouts, but it just seemed like they did it during every timeout, and it was annoying. The NBA did not do that during the WCFs game at the SBC center last year. Most of the time, the skank dancers just came out and danced during timeouts. I think there were only two Hornet skank-dancing sessions on Sunday night, which was somewhat disappointing.

The other thing was they didn't introduce the Spurs as the defending champs ... not a big deal, but you'd think they'd want to, especially if they beat them.

I may try to see the game on Jan. 25, especially if Ginobili is playing.

P.S. Rasho Nesterovic sucks donkey dicks. Wtf pop doesn't put in Nazr ... I have no idea.

Mid First is likely to be buying a large portion of the team if Shinn and Stern make a commitment to the city.

Link?

You know somebody at Mid First? You're not like the regional rep. or something are you? If so, hey, I LOVE Mid First, and they were purely an example.

I caught it on a Hornets Message board. I know the guy who runs the site and it was the first OKC Hornets bbs. I was one of the first to find it and register it has already gotten pretty large and somewhat busy. A lot of good info on the team over there. Mainly it was started because all the NO boards immediatly banned anyone with an Oklahoma IP address or screen name.

Mid First, Clay Benton, Bob Funk (Express Personnel, OKC Blazers, and Oklahoma Redhawks owner), the Gaylord Family, and a group of local corporations (Kerr-McGee, Conoco/Phillips 66, Dobson Communications, Sonic, and a number of smaller businesses) calling themselves the Pioneer Investors are the talk. Shinn is supposedly willing to sell up to 49% of the team and these groups or others. I think they want more of a commitment to OKC and/or a gurenteed buyout clause.

The owner of the site has been invited to the Mid First Lounge a couple of times and has met Shinn, the MId First board, and the others mentioned above at these functions and has reported on this. The media in the OKC area (Daily O and namely Barry Trammel) have been leeking the information slowly to the masses in OKC but it looks good for the long term as far as the Hornets staying long term. Especially with the pathetic attendance at the two games in Baton Rouge so far.

There is no such thing as an "Oklahoma IP address." Screen names I can understand, sort of.

Either way, link me up, or do away with this bullshit
(Daily O and namely Barry Trammel)
Barry Trammel knows exactly ... shit. Actually, he may know exactly what's going on, but I wasn't talking about underpaid sports writers. There is, however, such as thing as speculative sports columnist, of which BT exceeds.

Please tell me you haven't been reading his column. Dude's a fucking moron. He has no clue, about anything, outside of OU football. Granted, that's all there is, here, however ... him trying to cover the NBA is like Bill Walton trying to "cover" the NFL.

'Sayin.

Your correct on IP addresses but there are provider IP addresses and you can hunt down the location of servers and IPs. I know this for fact because after Ivan my family and my cousin were having to staying in the same townhouse while my floor was being restored. He is still there as his house was just simply destroyed (weird thing is that I am on the beach and he is 30 miles in land). Used to watch him do it all the time. Scared the shit out of me.

Barry Trammel can't even get OU football right. No I don't read his article on a regular basis. I would rather slit my own wrists and drown in vat of acridic acid. He has just been told he is doing these stories though since he is the Daily O's lead man. If you want the party line on the Hornets he, unfortunatly, is the man you have to swallow the swill from :(.

Hornets Central

It can make this place look pretty civil at times.

A lot of bad blood between OKC and New Orleans fan despite pulling for the same team, supposedly.

Looks like it. Thanks.

Interesting thread in there started by a self-described Spurs fan who was pulling for the Hornets the other night.

I want the Horents to do well also, but not when they play SA. When they can beat LA and Phoenix, I'll be a lot happier. :D

edit ~ Is that you in that thread? If so, nice! :D

I went ahead and registered and responded.

Looks like somebody might have been sitting behind me.
