Civilization 4
It was supposed to come out today. Did anyone grab it? The store I checked didn't get their stock yet.
The Civ series is my all-time favourite. From what I've read the new one should be an improvement, but I'd like to see for myself.

I've finally had a chance to play and mvscal is right. The ATI issue has been solved but there's a horrible memory leak that causes it to bog down after awhile. It was using well over a gig of RAM on my system, which is ridiculous.
Having said that, it's a worthy addition to the series. Arch says that the screen is cluttered, but I prefer to think of it as full of information. You can see all of the details you need about your cities and units right on the main map. I also think Civ 4 is a lot harder than the previous games. I got my butt kicked on the Noble difficulty level when I expanded too quickly and was wiped out by the Incans (who declared war just because I wouldn't open my borders to them). Cities are also harder to take and require bombardment to weaken their defenses. And air superiority is far more crutial this time around. The Jet Fighter and SAM infantry are now more important than ever.
I also like the addition of the alarm clock since this version is as addictive as the others, and it's nice to be able to be reminded to get up and enjoy real life.
If you're a fan of the series, get this game. If you're more into sissy D&D stuff like Arch, you can probably skip it.

Bought it. Have a NVIDIA (or whatever) video card and I have the black tile/shiney face glitch. Nobody at Apolyton.net seems interested in helping me troubleshoot the fucking thing. Hoping that the patch fixes the memory leak and the black tile issues. Fucking stupid fucking game.
Can't wait to actually play it.

Well, they released a patch (1.08 ) last night for a couple of hours before they took it down. I guess it screwed up the worldbuilder and caused a lot of crashes. I managed to get it dl'd and installed and I can play about 20 turns before a crash and I can actually see the terrain! Not sure when the updated patch will be put back out there, but hopefully soon.
