The Historian

This book sucks. Some parts are good, some parts seem like they have promise... but overall I think the value is more in the kindling than the literature.

I'm about a third of the way through, and the only reason to go on is that I have never NOT finished a book of fiction. The story is so weak at this point that continuing to read feels like an act of sympathy for the author.

I would love to hear from someone who likes this book.

Personally, it was all downhill after Garp. I've read plenty of Irving, and I just can't take any more.
