The Left says 1% of a Billion is more than 1% of a thousand, therefore the outcomes are unequal.
The Right says 1% is 1%. The input is equal.
Both are telling the truth which is why the argument will never resolve.
Gets it. Sorta.
When discussing the national debt, it seems that things get reversed. It all depends on whose ox you want to gore.

Not me. I don't have an iphone made by Chinese coolies.Diego in Seattle wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 12:22 pm Who pays tariffs?
And for your further enjoyment the last shipments from China that aren't covered by tariffs should arrive this week. After that you'll be seeing tariff charges added to your bills.

Certainly not for any large purchase. It's a moot conversation in any event. China will cave or collapse. There is no replacement for the US market. We might experience some minor inconvenience, they will have their balls cut off and nailed to their foreheads.

Will that be the day before or the day after Mexico pays for the wall?

Except you are not. Billionaires do not pay income taxes on the vast majority of their wealth. They are billionaires because assets they hold have appreciated in value. But they do not sell those assets and realize taxable income very often.Mikey wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:39 pm^^^^HighPlainsGrifter wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 5:27 pm Ah the classic Left vs Right tax battle.

All I really know is that, whatever position I take, I’m right.

You need to stop being such a fucking pussy and understand how economic leverage actually works. I'm sure you can find your balls somewhere around the house.
^^^ Diego nails it once again!! The consumer pays the tariff!!
I've never seen anything more scatter-shot and absurd than this administration's tariff nonsense.Dr_Phibes wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 2:27 amI'll call bullshite, you don't actually believe any of that but it makes for decent bluster.mvscal wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 8:49 pm

You're going up against a command economy, it's specifically designed for this. It can stop on a dime, turn in any direction and it specialises in damage control. A command economy is a wartime economy. You have nothing, no industrial policy, nothing - just some vague hope 'the invisible hand' will turn up.
The administration don't know what the f*ck they're doing, just the latest example from the past week - the 25% on auto parts got cancelled the day before it was supposed to kick in because Ron Mexico didn't factor in the total collapse of the auto industry.
The tariff policy is dead now, it's just a matter of how much damage it's going to before this is realised. The similarities between this and Perestroika are stark.

I don't know about that Pops, sometimes people are just really stupid. It's not without precedent.
