Re: KENTUCKY DERBY MAY 3 2025
Pickle, I'm glad to see your interest in horse racing. Fun sport.
But I suggest you do the contest differently. I have run contests on the boards, and suggest that you do it as I did last year. Here is the thread, and we did a triple crown challenge, who did the best over the three races. Here are the final results, and props again to Smackie Chan for winning the contest last year.
As you know, at the end of the race, the results will be posted and will look like this:

The payouts are based upon a standard $2 bet.
So if the contest is just listing who you think will be the top 3 finishers, it will be easier for both the people who enter the contest, as well as scoring the contest.

Re: KENTUCKY DERBY MAY 3 2025
Pickle, we had 4 contests. One for the Kentucky Derby, which Seer won.
Another for the Preakness (won by Seer and me), another for the Belmont (won by Smackie and Biggie).
And as they do at the tracks, there was an overall winner for the Triple Crown, which was Smackie.

What I'm noticing from that list is Kluba didn't win a goddam thing.

I'll pick a stable this year. Think I'll wait for the official Roux contest and take a pass on Pickle's bullshit.
Smackie Chan must be stopped.

Roux runs the horses around these parts, and it is his to run the official t1b contest, like last year.Kluba wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 7:36 pmThat makes two of us, Grifter. You knowm, it is kinda interesting to me, insofar as I was given to trepidation style light treading on eggshells on just a couple of boards, what SPB's POV is like. I experienced the full freedom of theventonline on the one side, and the brutal atmosphere of Democratic underground on the opposite. But for FSB, "screen of death" imminent at all times, on most venues, must get old.
Eh, Bahala na.

I was only trying to make sure there was something to do for the Kentucky derby.

Re: KENTUCKY DERBY MAY 3 2025
Pickle, I have received private messages requesting the same format as last year, so please let's do that.
Simply list your predicted finish of the top three horses. It will be assumed that all bets are $2, so that we will calculate the T1B winner with the posted results from the track. Same as last year.
The results from each race will be listed, with the overall total being declared the winner of the T1B Triple Crown Challenge. Same as last year.
Just use this thread to make your picks.
==========================================
Separate and apart from that, Pickle yes I'll do your version as well.

Plessy versus Ferguson was overturned by Brown versus Board of Education. You can't have that separate but equal bad stuff in the whole world, solar system, Milky Way and even Paradise. Plus, the matter involved Negroids in some manner, which Piffle clearly identifies as.
Bad Roux.

Re: ROUX IS RUNNING THE KENTUCKY DERBY THIS YEAR
Damnit! Rodriguez was scratched. I had him in my top 3. Bob Baffert has another horse, Citizen Bull, but I don't think he is as strong as Rodriguez.
So with that scratch, Baeza joins the race, and that will change some bets. Baeza has a strong pedigree -- a half brother to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage and 2024 Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch -- plus he placed in the Santa Anita Derby, and has some fast workouts.
Edit: Grande is also scratched by the track vet, and the owner isn't happy.
