Weekend Roll Call 3-29-25

Post by kcdave »

I think I am going to continue running these as the
vid of the week for a while.

Time warp back to last week for a minute-

It's spring, the peak of grill biz time- the little side hustle thing I started
that now has me going for 80 hours a week, that no one here gives 2 shits about.
I can work on that, or spend 30 minutes crafting a post ranting about politics,
or making fun of some dumb fuck like Sven, or whatever, that no one here
gives 2 shits about. Just choosing to spend my time wisely.

Happy weekend, Y'all.

Rack wolfman's good news.

Getting ready to head to the office. With the legislative Session coming up, there is a Tuesday deadline to request a bill to be drafted, then a Friday deadline to have bills prefiled. And while progress has been made, we ain't ready yet.

Gotta get moving, y'all have a good one.

Great news from wolfie!

Heading out soon for a San Diego Horticultural Society tour of members’ professionally designed drought tolerant gardens.

Does that sound ghey? Too fuckin’ bad. Tomorrow we’re driving to LA for an opera.

If you have to ask...yeah. Jesus the pool boy's bell end prodding your enlarged prostate level ghey. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Unfortunately there aren’t any monster truck rallies or UFC events this weekend so this is what we ended up with. Besides, hanging out with the opera crowd makes me feel sort of young. Still walking walking without assistance and stuff.

A little late with this because I was out of the house for most of the weekend. We're a little more than a week into spring (officially) and a lot of stuff in the yard seems to be a couple of weeks behind where were were last year. Most likely because of a lack of rain this winter until February. Cloudy and rainy today but it was nice on Friday and Saturday. Some of the stuff that's blooming (botanical names on request):

Hummingbird sage

Image

Blue eyed grass, with white sage. The blue eyed grass pops up every spring on its own.

Image

Red maids. Another wild native that comes up in areas that I'm not maintaining at all except to cut the weeds.

Image

California golden poppies (our state flower)

Image

Ceanothus "blue jeans"

Image

Sunset manzanita. These are sometimes described as "ground cover." I planted these 20 years ago and they've over 10 feet tall.

Image

Ceanothus "Joyce Coulter"

Image

Ceanothus "Yankee Point"

Brittlebush

Image

Desert (or apricot) mallow. Just getting started.

Image

Flannelbush

Image

Western jack 'o lantern. This is a 12 inch mushroom that I've never seen here before.

Image

Coast live ok. Not a spectacular bloom, but a bloom nonetheless.

Navel orange
