Decades ago I was an annual pass holder at Sea World San Diego, frequently visiting with a friend who was like a second mother. We spent a fair amount of time watching the KW's & talking to the trainers/animal care staff. Like humans, KW's develop relationships with humans based on how the whales feel about their trainers. There was one trainer who my friend & I didn't like (narcissistic & condescending) who we didn't care for & most of her fellow trainers didn't care for her either. One day the dominant female KW made clear that they felt the same way about that trainer as well. That trainer was never allowed to enter the water with them again after that. I'm wondering if this recent case might be a similar instance.
