No doubt !
I know people who are enhancing their financial situation. And they are working class folks who dabble in the market. I’m no economics prof, but they said the current situation is easily utilized to make bucks.

Don’t ask me how!
I have some funds (including stocks) in a rollover IRA. Rollover because it was started by combining all of my old 401K accounts, so it's pre-tax money. I have to start drawing it down in three years when I turn 73 (Required Minimum Distributions), at which time anything I take out counts as ordinary income for tax purposes. Some of those stocks have taken a big hit in the past few days so I've been taking some of them and transferring them to my Roth IRA, which grows tax free, but I have to pay income taxes on those transfers this year. Not a huge thing but with the value of those stocks at a low point my tax liability will be less than if the values come back up. And they will be in the Roth so any future increase will be protected from taxes. Unless of course Trump decides to do away with Roth accounts. And also assuming that the values rebound.

trump Promised Americans Booming Wealth. Now He’s Changing His Tune

President trump’s sweeping promises are running headlong into the reality of governing.

As a presidential candidate, Donald J. trump promised an economic “boom like no other.”

But eight weeks into his presidency, Mr. trump is refusing to rule out a recession — a striking change in tone and message for a man who rode widespread economic dissatisfaction to the White House by promising to “make America affordable again.”

His comments come as the stock market is tumbling — the S&P 500 fell 2.7 percent Monday after falling 3.1 percent last week — and business leaders are spooked about the uncertainty over his tariffs. Even some Republicans, who fear retribution if they cross Mr. trump, have started to raise concerns about his levies.

The moment captures a fundamental challenge for Mr. trump, a showman who makes absolute and sweeping promises that inevitably run into the reality of governing.

The economy Mr. trump inherited was by many standards in solid shape, with low unemployment, moderate growth and an inflation rate that, while still higher than what the Federal Reserve wants, had declined substantially. But the uncertainty that his policies have injected into the outlook is a jarring contrast with the picture Mr. trump painted on the campaign trail.

“We will begin a new era of soaring incomes,” Mr. trump said at a rally in October. “Skyrocketing wealth. Millions and millions of new jobs and a booming middle class. We are going to boom like we’ve never boomed before.”

That vow to create an economic boom has come into conflict, at least for now, with the president’s favorite economic tool: tariffs. ......

No one can figure out the dairy 'tariff'. Canadian dairy is centrally planned and self-contained. It exports 300 mil worth and imports 700 mil worth, only to fulfill WTO regulations and NAFTA adjustments.
Canada would rather not trade in dairy at all.

Donnie's just a stupid old man.

Biden slowed inflation down too much as well. It’s dangerous to get used to low inflation rates.

Tuberville is absolutely the most clueless POS gomer ever elected to the Senate. Thanks, Sam, for providing us some real tragic comedy.

The market has been over-valued for quite some time due to easy money.

Biden's inflation stoked that easy money.

No matter who was/is president, the market adjusts.

Quit f-ing whining...

The markets adjust naturally on their own without being buttfucked in the mouth by some ignorant tinpot moron and his gaslighting sycophants. This is not normal.

well he said he's not sure if there is going to be a recession or not.
per Google:"A recession is officially judged as two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. During this period, which can last anywhere from months to even years"

so is the hole the country is in so deep that pain is the forecast for awhile until the curative moves bear fruit, or did we sign up for massive economic masochism to benefit the wealthy?

Well I have another Instagram for you, and I really hope that you will take a minute of your day and watch it: LINK

With that refresher as a background, now please consider the case of Mahmoud Khalil, who even has not been able to speak with his attorney.

Then realize that what Mr. Khalil has said is really not substantially different than what our own Innocent Bystander has said here about Israel and Jews.

Anyway, whether you agree with him or not, hopefully you will conclude that we should not be treating people that way in the United States.

Ah, a Susan Collins type of objection. Well a small step in the right direction at least. Progress.

And just curious, what do you think about this?

Feeding the hungry? Does that register at all? Is that waste and corruption? Is that an additional something that should be cut in order to fund an additional tax cut for billionaires?

Or maybe, just maybe, is feeding hungry poor people something that actually is a good thing? Something that should be done, perhaps with the understanding that there are few acts that are more Christ-like than feeding the hungry?

Hard pass. I don't have an IG account, but I'm sure it was riveting :meds:

As far as Khalil, that piece of garbage has no business being in this country, let alone taking the spot at Columbia from a more deserving America.

As far as feeding the hungry, I'm all for it, except I don't approve of the govt handling the task.

I learned yesterday of a trump voter who now is unable to retire due to the markets, he's not happy. An acquaintance of mine.

No doubt the markets will recover, at some point. But he was planning on retiring at the end of the month and now he's continuing to work.

Oh dear, trump was supposed to hurt those people, not the good people who voted for him.

Give me a break. If the "Trump voter" you cite were truly ready to retire, this blip would not derail that.

It's a matter of good investment choices. proper spending upon retirement, and simple math.

Even a 20% drop wouldn't derail it.

I didn’t indicate that I’m taking Musk/DOGE’s word for anything. I suggested the possibility that they’ve found some fraudulent activity, such as they have in many departments.

I’m amazed that Dems have zero interest in exposing all the corruption. Wonder why that is…

No ability for critical reasoning? Where else have we seen that recently? It’s both sides and you know that. It’s simply been flipped since the election. People got tired of the corruption and inaction of the previous gaggle of criminals. Now we have a different gang and they’re tearing down the whole corrupt system.

Tell him to relax. Hang in there for a year. Trump gets the national debt down to sane levels doing exactly what he’s doing and your friend’s friend can retire comfortably.

I have not spoken with him, although there's a pretty fair chance that I will during the legislative Session that starts next month.

I’m not smart enough to know, but I’m looking at the longterm, not tomorrow’s stock market numbers. Bringing companies back to US soil is part of the tariff “plan”. Or so we’re told.

I’m 1000x more confident in this president’s financial acumen than I was in Biden’s clowns.
