Weekend Roll Call 3-8-25

Post by kcdave »

Flannel throwback -

The shittiest Sunday of the year, slightly edging out easter,
is upon us. Losing the hour, and fucking up sleep patterns
sucks. Hopefully, the yam will remove his lips from Putin's
cock long enough to persuade congress to make DST permanent 365.

Did you catch the news over the last couple of weeks about the Only Fans Whore
who's jam is doing old dudes. Not a bad lookin' ho. https://www.instagram.com/wisco.tiff/
Gotta admire here entrepreneurial spirit. I caught her interview on a local
radio station this week, by longtime local shock jock, Johnny Dare.
Thursday, Audacy pulled the plug on his show, along with 250-300 radio
personalities across the country. Such a shame. I have been listening to his
show for 32 years. I expect the 5 person crew back in some capacity after
their 6 month non-compete, but it will likely never be the same.
Any of you fuckers have someone axed in your market?

FOC continues to ride the March weather seesaw.
70's last week, a blizzard Tuesday, more 70's, chance
of tornados late next week, and rumors of a bomb
cyclone blizzard next weekend.. hmmm.
Gym, honeydo's, grill biz, Nice Dreams on the tube
this evening.

M.o.W.

Happy weekend, Y'all.

Has anyone told Zack what to do with the clocks this weekend?

Glad to see the meteorological spring has pretty much become the actual spring around here. Even though STL is just 230 miles east of KC, we still don't see as much winterlike crap as they do! Sounding like we may see our first 80 degree day next week.

Busy weekend with getting kids to their respective practices and shit today and tomorrow. I can totally understand getting kids involved with stuff; in fact it should be pretty much required to get kids involved with sports or a hobby that gets them out of the house and off screens for a while. But 2-3 sports at the same time? Why do parents do this crap?

Anyone around this place, SCIII or .net 16 years ago when I announced my first son was born?

Yep he's driving now with his own car.

He saved up some cash and wife and I helped out as well and we got him a 2017 Ford Escape! One owner, 93k miles, all proper maintenance taken care of and no recalls according to the carfax. Got some great ratings and reviews online and so far so good!

He's definitely fortunate to have a really good first car. Most of us scraped together a few hundred bucks to get some run down hatchback as our first car.

Rack a 3rd driver and no car payments!

I definitely remember baby d-town. And before you know it, he will be out of the house. So yeah, enjoy it even if he wants to do 6 sports at the same time.

Rainy day in Baton Rouge. Haven't done much other than drink coffee and walk the dogs during a slow down in the rain. I'll take them to the groomer in a bit.

Hope they can get in the LSU baseball game today. Tigers are playing well, ranked #1 in some polls, Tennessee is ranked #1 in the other polls. I don't know how LSU is above them, Tennessee looks really really strong and they are the defending national champs, until someone knocks them off, they belong #1.

I've been hurting a lot lately, which is to be expected as the epidural has worn off. Thankfully I get another one next week. Also next week is another birthday for me, they seem to be coming along faster and faster. It is pretty much just another day for me, but my wife gets all worked up, and we'll probably go have a nice dinner somewhere. Y'all have a good one.

bright and sunny here just north of the Nations Capitol. feels a little colder than the thermometer indicates.

Mens ministry this weekend to focus on how many different ways we the faithful can point and laugh at you who are atheist dooche-bags are burning in hell and stuff in eternity and having demons with pitchforks giving you the business because your too obstinate and full of sh*t to incorporate simple dogma in your sorry excuses for lives because you have no brains to know how WE the righteous are saved and you are dayumed and you are dumm and we are smart

Yeah, Miguel is OK when he's not pretending his fellow democrats aren't completely bat-shit crazy. He should stick to food, gardening and sciency type stuff, all though he gets a little silly in that regard too.

But can we get a break from your prostate status updates, por favor?

As for my weekend, I am attempting to unfukk the GF's garage. Moving a 4x8 shelf at chest level to the other wall at about 7 ft level so I can have a work bench and get my POS BMW convertible inside to work on.

If you know anything about old E46 Beemers, you either have to have a proiper garage, tools amd the ability to work on it, or have Elon money to pay Fritz at der Autohaus to wrench on it.

Don't have Elon money, so gotta get the garage ready for a little maintenance.

BMWs are the ultimate driving machines, as advertised....when they're right. They are the ultimate POS if neglected.

If you arent ready for all that maintenance BS, get a Corolla.

We went to see Bonnie Raitt on Wednesday at Pechanga Casino (about 17 miles from here), a fairly small theater that holds maybe 1,200, first show on her current tour and the entire band was rocking. She's 75 and still puts on a great show. One of the best slide guitar players anywhere. This isn't from our show, but it's the same band from last year.

Mrs. Mikey and I first saw Bonnie in 1983 or maybe 84 at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, before we were together (she was somebody else's date). Seen her at least a dozen times since then.

Here's this morning's haul from the farmers market.

Image

Seen at the top of our street this morning at about 9:30 am. Amazing that it was still there at noon, considering I live in a district that elected Darrell Issa to congress with about a 2-1 majority.

Image

It's about 70 deg here this afternoon, but it was 37 when I got up. Rain the past couple of days left some snow on the local mountains. Palomar Mountain is about 20 miles east of here.

Image

Even got some in the local foothills.

First California Golden Poppy of the spring. This is our state flower.

I love European cars. I don't charge a higher labor rate to work on them like most shops do. I freaking love these stupid machines. They're worth fixing, imo, and if you don't think so, you're not the right owner.

Did you get the M series?

My last German toy was an A6 quattro twin turbo. I put K04 turbos and 40% larger intercoolers & plumbing on it and tuned the boost from 9psi stock to 24. At 55mph I could spool the turbos, drop it into third and slip the tires badly enough to activate skid control. Sucker would jump sideways. Turbo wastegating sounded like birds chirping. I never tracked it but dang it was quick and sounded like God was singing the universe into existence.

A stock Nazimobile is expensive to keep on the road. I can’t imagine what one running nearly triple the boost must be like.

The vw bug that I learned to drive in had no factory gas guage but it did have a reserve gas tank whose switch was on the floorboard.

BMW has always been the standard bearer for asshole drivers, but Audi has made a solid run at them over the last decade.

And I consider myself an authority as I drive a lot in the Boston area. Plenty of 24 year old Asian tech bros in their A8s.

That joke is usually directed at BMW drivers.

On average, Porsche dude is a little older and richer and seems less willing to wrap his 911 around an oak tree.

That would make it older than a '61. Did it have a split rear window, too?

Actually it was exactly a '61. No split rear windows but the driver & front pax seats had wind wings.

Slightly off subject, but I owned two old Vdub buses at points in the early 80s. My kids and I had a blast in them. I recall wondering why I had no heat up front on one of them and getting underneath to find that the “paper” ductwork from the engine to the front was shredded.

I used to have Lexus at #1 with BMW a close #2. Tesla is moving up fast. And just love seeing people driving around in a $130,000 Range Rover who will never, ever, take it off the pavement.

I went to my 50th reunion in September of 2023, in Palo Alto. First time back there in quite a while. Some of my classmates are still in the area but it's mostly been taken over by super entitled tech bros. Pretty sad to see what was has happened to what was a really nice town to grow up in. Musk made really big news when he boasted about moving his Tesla HQ from California to Texas, complaining all the way about everything California. But you know what? They opened their new Tesla Engineering HQ in Palo Alto in February of 2023, taking over the old Hewlett Packard campus. Guess they couldn't find anybody good at math in Texas. What a surprise, and too bad for my old town. I don't recall hearing anything about that from Elon, or anything in the news - MSN or FAUX or anywhere.

The roads back there seem a lot smaller than they did 50 years ago and, now, they're full of assholes driving Teslas. About the rudest motherfuckers I've encountered in years.
