Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
Pretty chill weekend, literally and figuratively.
Cold is back in FOC and not much else going on here.
Proper prior planning preventing piss poor performance
has me caught up grill biz for the first time in forever.
After the pool, heading to the city with Vaghub for a
few honeydo's a great lunch at Q39 and a couple of cocktails
later. Sunday, likely get a piece of ass in the morning,
a few more chores, and watch a little tv later in the day.....
That's when the Chief's will be winning their final game of
the season and completing the #3peat.
Happy weekend, Y'all.

Going to the beach. Probably stay for a good 45-50 minutes.
Re: Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
Surgery went well and now I'm....
Probably will return to the office on Monday, part-time. Pain is not that much anymore, but my strength isn't back yet. Still having to take a bunch of pills:

Plus 1 more under my tongue. But this morning will be the last of one of the antibiotics, so the pill number is decreasing.
Today is race day for Miss American Pie! She hit the board in her first race, finishing in third place. Today she is one of the favorites at 2/1 odds, geaux Pie!

I'm going to Costco this morning to get some lobster. Will try to make lobster rolls for the Super Bowl, but I've never done it before. What goes with lobster rolls? If they turn out nasty then we'll have frozen pizza I guess.
Time to fix a cappuccino with Bailey's, walk the little dogs, and get the day started. Y'all have a good one and geaux Philly.

Miss American Pie makes her second career start at Aqueduct early Saturday afternoon in the Big Apple for trainer Christophe Clement. She ran a very promising third first time out and leading jockey Manny Franco is slated to ride her in the first race with a post time of 12:40 p.m ET. The added distance in this race should be a positive and we’d expect her to step forward in her second go.

IN--- wow---I thought I was "medicated man". My newest is Ogoryx---a cancer fighter. Hope it is working. At least I'm still above ground.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

It's just two guys in a horse costume.
Re: Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
She looks fast.
She's had two races. In her first race she came in third, and today she won.

Pantomime horse racing should totally be a thing. Maybe even an Olympic event.

Re: Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
Not sure what you're planning. I'd poach them in crab boil and do it Louisiana style with a nice piquant remoulade. You aren't in Maine. Read your room. Just a thought.

There will just be four of us. Our LSU geology professor friends (Antarctica), and my wife and I.
After doing a bit of reading about lobster rolls, apparently there are two main versions, Connecticut style and Maine style. Maybe I'll end up with a south Louisiana style?
Running out of energy, I really wish I was in bed now but I've got one more stop to make and then go home.

Personally, that's what I would go with. Essentially make a lobster po boy. I don't think you could go wrong there. It's not like Maine is known for culinary sophistication or anything.

Just got back from LA where we went to a show last night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall (no it's not in Disneyland). Resting up for the national holiday tomorrow.

Re: Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
Just be aware, the tail meat of a lobster is generally a bit tougher than claw and knuckle meat. Sure, you don't want to mince the meat, but you may want to chop into smaller pieces. A traditional Maine lobster roll is nothing more than chilled, cooked lobster meat mixed with a bit of mayo to taste, placed into a buttered, toasted brioche bun and then drizzled w/butter. It ain't hard to do a basic, Maine lobster roll. Kick it up LA style if you wish.
Did some interior painting earlier today then relaxation... which I will continue to do for the rest of the eve and likely tomorrow. Freezing rain here currently which I hope ends soon. Losing power sucks.

While out and about yesterday, we decided to retrace our steps
from last year, with a trip to Union Station for the Chiefs display-

A trip over to Q39 for lunch-

and lastly swinging by Big Gay Jeff's Chiefs display.

Chip- hope you post a pic of your finished product- cajun lobster roll sounds tasty.
Nothing fancy on the SBLIX menu here tonight. Just an Arby's Beef n Cheddar and
some chips n dip.

I hope it turns out, considering the effort I just went thru.
I'm pretty sure that I can peel crawfish and shrimp faster than anyone here not named Python. But cleaning those lobster was a pain in the ass, no doubt my technique was off. Y'all eat more lobster up north than we do here, I need a lesson in how to clean them.
At least that part is done.

Re: Weekend Roll Call 2-8-25
Meh, I'm in, but definitely not fulfilling the "requirement" later this afternoon. Watching movies instead! I haven't seen a Stupid Bowl since 2016 when the Broncos (when I was still a fan of them) somehow pulled one off. Even then I wasn't all that excited or stoked for them because my interest in the NFL was in its waning stages at the time. Now, my interest in the NFL is at exactly ZEEEROOOW percent. People just cannot figure out why I lost interest in the league and are even more floored when I kicked my 30 year fanship of the Broncos to the curb. They say crap like "oh what a fan you are."
But, apparently, there's a requirement.

And I'm still not watching so screw off to anyone who is tuning in when you are not a fan of either team on the field! You don't watch all 4-7 games of the World Series, or the NHL finals, if your team isn't in it, do you? What's so different about the Stupid Bowl? And especially screw off to those who tune in "just for the commercials." Yeah, your expectations of the commercials need to be lowered dramatically if there should be an expectation at all. Because come Monday morning, every radio and TV news morning show will be yapping about the commercials and how much they sucked and had no entertainment value and were a waste of millions of dollars for those companies. EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR!
People are so damn gullible and the Stupid Bowl proves it.
Chiefs will win, but only because the NFL has it all rigged up for Taylor just like they did the last two years. Since Tom Brady retired, they haven't had anything else to rig up the Stupid Bowl for so this is it!

Disagree, Roux is from Louisiana as are his guests. They've probably been eating monstrosities with an exoskeleton covered with beans all of their lives. They've probably had it for breakfast.
Roux should demonstrate some knowledge of the outside world and dazzle his guests with something different, at least post-Sumerian civilisation. If you had visitors from England, you wouldn't serve them fish and chips.
