ZZTOP: Sharped Dressed Man
Johnny Cash: Folsom Prison Blues

Re: Signature Song
Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4
Pearl Jam - don’t know
Aretha Franklin - Respect
The Cars - Just What I Needed
Bob Dylan - Rainy Day Women (most probably will say Blowin in the Wind)
Steve Miller - Space Cowboy or Living in the USA
ZZ Top - La Grange
ABBA - don’t know
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Styx - Come Sail Away
Steve Miller is an interesting call. Could be different songs for “pre” and “post” Joker. It’s all good but I personally prefer the “pre”.

Chicago. Anything off CTA, 25 or 6 to 4 would be my pick. If you went with post Kath love ballad faggotry, kindly hand your testicles to someone who can you them. They’re of no use to you.Softball Bat wrote:Identify the signature song for each artist/group.

Dude! 80's ZZ Top is right in my wheelhouse. Remember, I am not as old as most of you.

Re: Signature Song
I understand that being a bit younger than I, 80s ZZ is in your wheelhouse, whatever that means. I ain't quite mikey old, so Eliminator ZZ was also my first exposure to them.Left Seater wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 8:47 pm Dude! 80's ZZ Top is right in my wheelhouse. Doesn't change the fact that the early, more bluesy, less pop, 70s ZZ is a million times better.
But since "signature song" pretty much means "most popular", and Eliminator undoubtedly sold more than Tres Hombres, in its day, thanks to around the clock MTV videos, perhaps Sharp Dressed Man or Legs is a better pick.
Same goes for 80s love ballad Chicago. It sold more than CTA. Still, if you picked it, yer a fag.

Re: Signature Song
"Signature song" might mean, the first song that comes to your mind when you hear the artist's name.smackaholic wrote:"signature song" pretty much means "most popular"
Or, the one song that is most representative of the artist's body of work.
Or, most popular, as you said.
It is quite subjective, and that is why the responses are always interesting to read.

Re: Signature Song
Agreed.
But can we agree that picking any post Terry Kath love ballad from Chicago makes you a fag?
I don’t care how many albums it sold.

Re: Signature Song
Early Chicago is some of the best rock and roll ever made.
Then sometime around 1980, someone figured out that chics buy albums too.
Chicago, Journey, Reo, Styx and others started churning out love ballads and made bank!!!!!

25 or 6 to 4
What does this mean? There's an entire Wikipedia page devoted to the subject. I read it, and I still don't get it. I hate listening to songs when I don't understand the lyrics. Yet I do it all the time. :brad:

(Song)Writer’s block while sitting around at 25 or 26 minutes before 4:00 am.
If you can’t come up with something to write then write about whatever’s happening.
Re: Signature Song
There’s a similar story behind this song (and probably a lot of others).
Re: Signature Song
Speaking of signature songs, was watching Heart do Stairway to Heaven again the other night at the Kennedy honors show and was wondering when Jimmy Page turned into an old Asian man.
