Slayer - Reign In Blood

Post by MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan »

Is the best fucking album ever made!

Bow down, motherfuckers!

The Beatles, The Stones, Nirvana, CCR, Zeppelin, Sabbath. All great bands. All better bands than Slayer, for that matter. But none of them ever released twenty-nine minutes and three seconds worth of consecutive songs that even approaches the pure, ferrocious work of genius that is this album!

Just sayin'.

Right about now, the albums in max rotation in the BSmack archives are two gems by the Kleptones.

A Night at the Hip Opera
Yoshimi Battles The Hip Hop Robots

A close second would be Beatallica.

A Garage Dayz Nite
Beatallica

You can thank me later

I might agree with you had I never heard the Stooges before. It's probably not fair to compare them, but Raw Power beats Reign In Blood in the ferocity department.

Blasphemer!

Seriously, SITA just never really did it for me. That album, IMO, is when they jumped the shark. I would rank South Of Heaven, Show No Mercy, and Hell Awaits above that album.

As for your other choices...

Facelift - Awesome album, but not better than RIB. Saw them open for Slayer (and Megadeth & Anthrax) on the Clash Of The Titans tour. They got booed pretty heavily. I think I was the only one there who dug them. That album definitely deserves respect since it was most metalheads' introduction to grunge.

Vulgar - This is the greatest half album of all time. It really tapers off after "This Love" however. If the 2nd half was as good as the 1st, you might have an argument. I'm kinda weird though. My favorite Pantera album is Great Southern Trendkill.

Suicidal - Damn. I haven't heard that one in a long time. I might have to dust off the cassette! It's good, but no RIB either. I kind of prefer Join The Army.

... Tool's Undertow is the most unreal, amazing album I've ever heard.
