Memphis is not a Jeff Capel "type" job.

lesser conference. mercenary/commuter school academic standards.

I don't think Memphis is going to find a high profile coach. It's not that attractive of a job. I'd be shocked if Calipari didn't break NCAA rules while he was there, especially after C-USA went in the shitter in 2005. I remember there was a potential scandal there back when we were still in C-USA involving players driving around town in Escalades, but nothing came of it.

Deal off, Floyd says no thanks, per ESPN radio.

Don't believe anything coaches say. Steve Alford claimed he didn't even speak to anyone at Missouri a few years ago about the job down there yet we have a local sports talk show host (he's an Iowa fan) that says he personally spoke to a member of the committee that told him they did meet with Alford.

Coaches are full of crap. They'll say anything to make the fans happy. Usually rumors that get around are true about a coach looking into another job. The media outlet that reports these stories ends up looking like a fool sometimes because the coach ends up not going there and then both parties will say they never contacted each other when they actually did. They do it through 3rd parties. Kirk Ferentz did the same thing with Michigan. Too many sources both on Iowa's side and Michigan's had concurring statements about what went down between Ferentz and Michigan for me to think that Michigan wasn't interested in Kirk and Kirk wasn't interested in Michigan. Michigan's people gave Kirk's people an offer that didn't beat what he was getting at Iowa so his people told Michigan's people no. That's how you do it. Same thing probably happened with Les Myles. Herbstreit, whom I think is an idiot, took a lot of heat with the Les Myles reports but he was probably spot on the whole time.

Coaches don't want to admit they were pursuing another job because if they don't get the job or end up not liking the offer, they will take too much heat from their fan bases and media. And these schools don't like admitting they went after a coach who turned them down because it makes them look like nobody any good was really interested in their job. It's all about egos and hurt feelings. Coaches are full of shit.

Can't say I am surprised that the shit is hitting the fan at Memphis now. Maybe they should move their games back to the Pyramid.

The fact that the Memphis AD is standing behind everything makes it even funnier.

I always knew there was something shady going on when Calipari got to Memphis. Now he is Kentucky's problem.
