Fox needs to lose it's baseball contract.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? A song from "the wiggles" in the middle of a baseball game? Holy shit, because their "touching" 25 min of faggotry at the begining of the game isn't enough.

That pitch was at Vlad's SHOULDERS! At 98 mph. Un----REAL!
Who cares about broadcasters, btw? You wops'll cry or "flop" about anything...

And I could seriously do without seeing Bronson Arroyo dressed extremely faggoty and singing Oasis songs in between innings.

I'll pull a 'Jack' and cross-post from the other board:

but that little shit w/the hybrid faggot/Hermy quoff can suck a semen scented queef from AP's vagina. They just finish a moving tribute to Roberto... well as moving as it could be with Selig reading from a fucking legal pad. The fans, players, & managers are silent out of respect and understanding of the gravity of the surroundings/tribute, Vera's holding back tears while thanking everyone, and queef boy takes the mike and the first thing he squeezes out from his semen-sucker is...
"YOU GUYS READY TO HAVE SOME FUN!!?? LET'S GO TO THE FIFTH INNING!"
I hate idiot announcers who think they are the show.

Yeah, but during the National Anthem, some brilliant Fox producer thought it'd be pretty cool to like have a camera scoot along under the 10,000 sq. yd. American Flag stretched across the field...cutting edge stuff, groundbreaking...until the feed went bad.
But hey, I hear Coods is needing a job.

THe Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes was f*ing ridiculous and it's not the first time FOX has used that...
Blog from October 11, 2005

And it's not like the rest of the staff is loaded with aces: these are the people who called the Astros the Expos while they clinched their NLDS. But the worst of all their offenses came in the Angels-NYY series: the goddamn "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" music video WITH FAKE KID HANDWRITING AND MISTY GRAPHICS that Fox made of a montage of wild Vlad Guerrero swings. THEY PLAYED IT WHILE PEOPLE WERE ON BASE AND THE NEXT AT BAT WAS CONTINUING. Because what baseball fans need isn't information on what's happening, it's a toddler video that looks like a douche ad.

I thought the Clemente thing was a load of crap. The most nice baseball player already gets the Roberto Clemente award for excellence in the field of warm-fuzzies, now they gotta court the Latinos by further dragging his corpse back out. Bad enough the Latinos are trying to get his number retired across the league because... uhh... they like him a lot.
Only thing more full of crap was Scrapiron leaving two fat and dumpy hitters in the field in the 9th with Rolen and Andruw defending a one run lead from the bench. More 9th inning blown leads from relievers with Garner calling the shots. Not that scrapiron will have to worry about where the WS is located this year.

I was thinking the same thing. If Rolen was playing third, Konerko's groundball would have been scooped up and the NL finally would have pulled one out. WhyTF was Cabrera right on the line??

Bace,
I would agree if it were anywhere else but Pittsburgh. You know, the home of the Robereto Clemente Bridge.
On the other hand, I don't think his number should be retired league wide.

'zzaro,
Joke or not, it was a sensitive moment, especially after Vera spoke while holding back a tear or two. That's beside the point. Bottom line, Buck's timing was pretty bad.

Buck still does Cardinal weekday games from time to time. He gets too smarmy for Smarmyfelice. He doesn't do it during the football season, but the open time during a baseball game lends itself to such wry comments.

I thought the same thing about Buck. While I thought the whole Clemente episode should have happened before or after the game, right after it happened, I was like "WTF?" when he asked if everyone was ready for some fun.
I'd almost equate it to the priest, after presiding over a funeral, gives a clap and says "Amen. So who's ready for punch and pie?"

Worst of all, Fox just announced last night that it had extended its baseball deal for seven more years. :brad:
Fox needs to go back to broadcasting "Melrose Place" and other similar crap, and leave sports to the real networks.

Like ESPN doesnt make itself the story rather than the game itself? I am afraid the average sports fan has no choice but to be subjected to annoying announcers who get as much face time as the game itself.

The Clemente thing, while nice, should have been done before the game. Not in the middle of the 5th fucking inning.

I guess I don't either since I think Rolen should have been there and away from the line. Enlighten us.

It was situational baseball. With 2 outs, no one on and a 1 run lead, Cabrera was playing the line to stop a double or triple down the line that would have put a runner in scoring position. Had Rolen been in the game, he would have been playing the same way.

9th inning, 1 run lead, right handed batter you guard the line so he doesn't hit a ball down the line for a double.

If it was situational Garner wouldn't have the fat scooter riding twins at 3rd and left. Rolen is good enough that he doesn't have to play the line. Its in his range. That toad Cabrera needs to have the ball hit right to him. Tell Hoffman not to throw any change ups and we're good.

So you guard against a double down the line. What about a double to the gap? I wonder how many doubles are hit straight down the line vs. bloop doubles, hits in the gap etc......So you guard against the double but can't get to the routing grounder which goes for a single, then they bunt him over or he gets there on a steal, pass ball, wild pitch etc....
Posted: Wed Jul 12, 2006 5:59 pm

Rolen might have been told to guard the line, but that means he still could have been in decent position to field a ball to his left. Cabrera's fat ass was basically straddling the thing.

There were two outs. Which means that bunts and stolen bases (especialy with Troy Glaus on first) were not part of the equation.

Glaus hit a ground rule double after Konerko hit the bases empty two out single prior to that. In any case, Cabrera was playing where he was supposed to. Scott Roiden may or may not have been able to get to the ball. Who knows. He would have been playing the line too, though.

You're demonstrating a whole buncha stupid in here.
Did you kind of notice a trend in this year's game?
Like the fact the fans and managers(and MLB in general) left most of the major steroid freaks at home?
So why should their current Leader be getting in the game?
And the fact that some of y'all's
just learned last night that a 3B plays the line with two outs with a RH batter at the plate is FUCKING HILARIOUS.
You
just noticed that?
Allow me to BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stand corrected on Glaus. The end result is the same. Cabrera or Rolen would have been playing the line and no manager in his right mind would be sending a guy to steal second unless he was a Rickey Henderson kind of base stealer. Which Jose Lopez and his 6 career steals is not.
What people should be asking is WTF happened to Trevor Hoffman? Those were some hard hit balls he served up.

Didn't notice that at all. I guess what I should be saying is "I didn't read into the game whatever Dins wants".
So why should their current Leader be getting in the game?
Because his everyday play makes other player's career reels. Because he would have caught that ball even if he was playing in foul territory as opposed to the dumpy headcase Cabrera.
And the fact that some of y'all's just learned last night that a 3B plays the line with two outs with a RH batter at the plate is FUCKING HILARIOUS.
If you've got Jason Lane hitting next you play the line. In this instance you've got a long line of All-Stars in the line up and a pitcher with a good slider and fastball throwing to a right-handed batter.
Allow me to BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DINSDALE!!!!!... sweeps again.

And let's see -- if I'm NL guy (thank God and GOD I'm not), and I have to score off Skeletor, I can't think of a guy I'd want at the plate more than Barry Bonds.
Where was he?
Jason Giambi is outhitting the overwhelming majority of AL players...where was he?
Fans are getting tired of the roiders...they got a little carried away, and now their era is taking a serious nosedive.
And Rolen is by far one of the most eggregious offenders.
I didn't want to see that freak out there. Apparently, Garner knew that outside of 314, there's a very strong anti-Rolen sentiment, since he's the freaking poster child for doping.

Wow.
Just wow.
The 314 myopia is strong in this one...
Let's see -- in an era where some whistleblowers have suggested that a very high percentage of big-leaguers are juicing, dude shows up one year looking about 15 years older, 60 pounds heavier, with ripped muscles in his face and temples, and suddenly can't stay healthy...
You figure it out.
If I had to name the most flagrant offenders who made a mockery of the game with their rampant juicing(besides King Barroid, of course), they would have to be Scott Rolen and Brett Boone. The two OBVIOUS choices.

Bace,
Even here in Jasper the overwhealming buzz is he roided up. I'm very much involved, closely, with the Jasper Baseball program and those who run it. I've talked to many people who played with Rolen and are friends of his still. Anyone close to Rolen around here that I've talked to fully believes he's roided up.

Alex Cintron ran into the guy.
Hee Sop Choi ran into the guy.
Two shoulders injuries to the exact same spot. One stemming from the initial collision, the other coming from a reinjury of the same spot. You think those are due to roids?
Also, they are testing for the roids these days, yet he seems to be doing just fine. 14 HRs now puts him on pace for 28 this year... about his average. BA at .331. After surgery his throwing arm is back to amazing.

Show me those stats that led you to your conclusion. Maybe find those "frankenstein" pics to prove your medically influenced opinion.
