Bold Ruler was Secretariat's sire, either is arguably America's greatest race horse. The people where my daughter's horse boards owned an eventer (dressage, stadium jumping, cross country) that was through the Bold Ruler line, phenomenally talented but otherwise just an asshole. All she wanted to do was compete and was happy to do so with or without a rider on its back. My daughter's coach sold her, said it was the most athletic horse she ever owned and was successful competing in local circles, but didn't want to be killed by her. She generally keeps track of horses that she's sold or otherwise came through her farm-not this one.
