Copied from my PET at .net -------

Mother Nature removed the spiked strap-on just long enough
to spread her legs and give us the most amazing view. The
clouds, rain and storms were cursed all morning. It stopped
raining at about 11:50, and by 12:10 clouds thinned just enough
to allow us to see the phenomena and start taking a few pics.
Lucky for us, the clouds that we cursed with such hatred gave
us a really nice filter when they thinned.

VagHub taped a lens from a pair of eclipse glasses, and I held one
over the lens of my cellphone. The whole thing was very cool to see
and I would have been TERRIBLY disappointed to have missed it.
Everyone should make the effort to see this at least once in your
lifetime. These, nor any pictures actually give the feeling of being
there to experience it for yourself.

And that was it. The clouds thickened and thunder once
again started to echo from the West. By 2:15 we were
getting a torrential rain storm, and right now at 4:30 ish,
we have a flash flood warning, and have received over
4 inches or rain. Weather dorks say it will be cloudy and rainy
all night into tomorrow morning. Thank you Mother Nature for
giving us a little break at just the right time.[/quote]

Indeed. This was my second (I was 11 for the last one).

And RACK Mother Nature for cutting you a break.

I think anyone who traveled anywhere west of the Rockies to watch it was an idiot. "Unreliable" weather at best. Same goes for anyone who went to the Oregon Coast (although I guess I can see the allure of being "first).

Not a cloud in the sky where I was (near Salem). The eastern sky was (and still is) somewhat orange, like it often is this time of year, and has been for weeks, due to wildfires on the other side of the mountains.

All in all, fucking spectacular. Flocks of birds going nuts, everyone around started hooting and hollering. Magic.

Awesome day.

Might have to figure out a way to see the next one. Although that might involve Texas, so maybe not.

The Keiser (just north of Salem) Volcanoes Single-A baseball team started their game at 10:00AM. First game in baseball history with an eclipse delay. The ball from the first pitch is on its way to Cooperstown.

What the human eye and brain perceive cannot really be put into any other form. You really have to see it for yourself.

Not sure if the image will show (if not, I'll post a link).

This dude won the eclipse.
