I would have posted this thread in the Horse Racing Forum, except, well, it doesn't exist.

In less than a month, the 2025 T1B Triple Crown Challenge will begin with the annual The Kentucky Derby, call it! thread. So you have that to look forward to.

I always thought it was his diary that people could eavesdrop on if they gave a shit.

I only opened it because I saw you posted and I was looking for another bungle blast.

Fair enough, my horse diary that y'all can eavesdrop on if you give a shit, or want to smack on me when the horses lose -- which is most of the time.

And I haven't really spammed the board with my horse bs. It has all been in this thread, and an occasional mention in the Weekend Roll Call threads. Easy enough to avoid.

Not counting the 3 threads per year that are the T1B Triple Crown Challenge, as those aren't my horses. Yet.

Once that's checked off, you should try hunting horse from deerback.

If you were curious as to how they would describe a horse that sucks, here you go:

Intellectual Workout Update

Intellectual worked four furlongs yesterday morning at Belmont Park, covering the distance in :50.00 flat (88/133).

Although the time was decent, the Clement team was unimpressed with the manner in which he did it and noted that the breeze seemed to take a lot out of him. They also said that he has lost a bit of weight, which is not ideal considering that he has trouble carrying his weight to begin with.

Off of that poor showing, they elected to pass on entering today for that aforementioned target race. They will monitor him in the coming days/weeks and possibly consider trying turf for his next race.

Ultimately, to this point all indications are suggesting that he is pretty limited as far as talent goes. For now, we will give the Clement team some time to try to get Intellectual figured out and come up with the best path forward.

Code for "see you at the glue factory, Intellectual."

It's funny, though, how a horse may fail at something, but become someone else's best riding buddy. My daughter's coach, (she's way more than that-my daughter wonders if it's weird that a someone who is 70 is her best friend) bought an elegant quarterhorse to train as an English eventing performance horse. Despite the horse's crazy athleticism, confirmation, she just couldn't get it done with her. Sold her for a "get this horse of my property" price to someone who wanted a horse to trail ride with and the gal who bought her just loves her. So maybe Intellectual has a future ahead of him being some little kid's best buddy.

Roux the Intellectual Workout Update:

Roux the Intellectual worked four threads yesterday morning at T1B, covering the board in passive drivel.

Although the effort was decent, the bungle clone team was unimpressed with the manner in which Roux did it, and noted that even the faintest breeze of smack seemed to take a lot out of Roux. bungle clone also said that Roux has lost a lot off his fastball, which is not ideal considering that he has trouble carrying his considerable weight to begin with.

Off of that poor showing, Roux elected to pass on running smack today for Shrubber-like quantities of Percocet and Phenergan. bungle clone will monitor him in the coming days/weeks and possibly consider not blasting Roux.

Ultimately, to this point all indications are suggesting that Roux is pretty limited as far as talent goes. For now, we will give bungle clone some time to try to get Roux the Intellectual figured out and come up with the best path forward.

REPUTATION WINS THE RACE!
:bananaS:

She took the lead soon after the start and kept it the entire way, ended up winning by 6 lengths, it definitely was her day today.

Gotta give props to 88, who called this race last night in Tune Town chat, he named Tater Tot and Bottomless Mimosa with Reputation. The $2 trifecta paid $83.60.

Reputation Romps at Gulfstream!

Congratulations! Reputation earned her diploma in dominant fashion this afternoon at Gulfstream Park, airing by 8 1/4 lengths. We knew she had more talent than she’d previously shown, and it was great to see her put it all together off the lay-off. Hustled to the front from her rail draw, your daughter of Bolt d’Oro posted solid splits of :21.89 and :44.96 and never looked back.

The logical next spot will probably be a first-level allowance in Kentucky, but we’ll see how she comes back, how the speed figures look and go from there.

We appreciate everyone’s patience in allowing Team Delgado to get this filly sorted out and on her game—it’s always nice when that patience is rewarded.

Good news about Reputation, she won her race and finished up with no injuries. Onto her next race.
Reputation Update

Team Delgado reports that Reputation came back from her win in great order. She will ship to Keeneland this weekend and we’ll begin to start weighing next options in the coming weeks.

And Miss American Pie is getting ready for her race later this month. Beautiful horse.

Miss American Pie Workout Update

Miss American Pie worked four furlongs yesterday at Belmont Park, covering the ground in :49.66 flat (26/41). Your daughter of Maclean’s Music remains on course for her aforementioned target race on Apr. 24 at Aqueduct. We will be back with an update once entries are out.

Race day for Improbable Luck! 5th race at Oaklawn Park.

This will be his 2nd race, in his 1st race he showed some good speed, but didn't have the stamina to hold onto the lead. Since then he has had some nice workouts. This is a step up in class, a $110,000 purse and he will have some strong competition. But trainer D. Wayne Lukas thinks he's ready for this level, and so we'll see this afternoon.

Introducing the newest member of the Roux stable:

Image

This horse has an incredible pedigree.

He is a full brother to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage.
He is a full brother to 2024 Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch.
And he's a half-brother to 2025 Kentucky Derby third place finisher Baeza.

Look at that horse. Oh absolutely welcome to the stable.

BloodHorse and Thoroughbred Daily News articles on him.
MyRacehorse is excited to partner with John Stewart’s Resolute Racing to present what is undoubtedly the best-bred individual ever made available via a fractional ownership offering, the full brother to Kentucky Derby winner, Mage, and Belmont Stakes winner, Dornoch, and the half-brother to 2025 Kentucky Derby starter, Baeza.

Meet Puca ‘24, the full-brother to 2023 G1 Kentucky Derby winner Mage and 2024 G1 Belmont S. and G1 Travers S. hero Dornoch, as well as the half-brother to Baeza (McKinzie), a $1.2-million yearling and narrow second to Journalism in the 2025 G1 Santa Anita Derby who will make his next start in this year's edition of the Kentucky Derby

Resolute purchased dam Puca–herself a stakes winner and Grade 2-placed runner who also received prestigious ‘TDN Rising Star’ honors–for a sale-topping $2.9 million at the 2023 Keeneland November sale while she was carrying this Good Magic colt. The daughter of dual Classic winner Big Brown was already a Derby winner-producing mare at that point, but she’d earn a second jewel towards her own Triple Crown the following June when Dornoch dug in gamely to defeat a strong field in the “Test of the Champion.” She was a shoe-in for that year’s KTOB Broodmare of the Year award, and that was after just her first three foals–her first foal, the filly Gunning (Gun Runner), was also multiple stakes-placed.

Puca is half to Finnegans Wake, who scored his own Derby Day glory when taking the 2015 G1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic.

Last April, meanwhile, Puca foaled her latest potential star in this strapping now yearling colt. He has continued to blossom in the past year or so, and is certainly one of the most promising and well-credentialed Thoroughbred yearlings on the planet. A beautiful chestnut with exceptional balance and proportion, he possesses a powerful forearm and hip and an athletic, free-moving walk.

He will go into pre-training later this year, with the plan to eventually turn him over to five-time Eclipse Award-winning conditioner and future Hall of Famer Chad Brown. The trainer of last year’s champion 3-year-old male, G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and near Kentucky Derby-misser Sierra Leone also guided Puca ‘24’s standout sire Good Magic.

A seven-figure son of Curlin, Good Magic was a champion juvenile himself and Derby runner-up, and he has emerged as one of the most successful sires–particularly of two-turn dirt horses–in America. In addition to the two superstar colts mentioned above, Good Magic has sired three other Grade 1-winning males routing on the dirt: last year’s G1 Pacific Classic hero and recent G1 Dubai World Cup runner-up Mixto; sale-topping G1 American Pharoah and G1 Arkansas Derby scorer Muth; and the Chad Brown-trained Blazing Sevens, winner of the prestigious G1 Champagne S. in 2022.

With four of those five currently standing at stud in Kentucky, there are not many–if any–sire lines that figure to have a more significant impact on the breed in the coming years.

Opportunities to get involved in a horse of this caliber do not come around every day.

Expected on track: Summer 2026
