I believe that if not for Chuck Berry, the Brit invasion would never have happened. That could be argued endlessly, but what a gem I stumbled across here.

The invasion still would have come, but he was undoubtedly a God to those pasty invaders.

Undoubted indeed... that of Chuck ever having a bad day, at least not a day that he had a guitar strapped on.
After so many years, his music and legend just keeps getting better, at least to me.
His body of work stands alone, but whatever influence he may have had on Brits just enhances that work.

I dunno -- did he have a guitar while he sat in prison for being a sick fuck?

Re: Chuck's altar boys
BTW -- horrifically tasteless thread title, since it mentions a dude who fucks children.

I must confess ignorance of that...Dinsdale wrote:BTW -- horrifically tasteless thread title, since it mentions a dude who fucks children.
I surely didn't know else I never would've post this thread, much less the title.
My bad, I guess.

It's bullshit, Chuck violated the Mann Act in something like 1956. It's a non-starter. Same as Townsend - bollocks :brad:

Entirely different circumstances.Dr_Phibes wrote:It's bullshit, Chuck violated the Mann Act in something like 1956. It's a non-starter. Same as Townsend - bollocks
Townsend was framed.
Berry was guilty of exactly what he was charged with. And there was plenty of other shit they could have charged him with, as well.
Let's not forget this horrible excuse for human also did stints in jail for going on an armed robbery/kidnapping spree. And he narrowly avoided going back for putting hidden cameras in women's bathrooms, the investigation into that also turned up his collection of child porn.
Don't make excuses for that POS. Like with Bowie and Prince, making good music shouldn't excuse anyone from sick, illegal behavior.
Don't pay your taxes? Whatever. Get caught with drugs? Like anyone gives a shit. Have sex wih minors and collect kiddieporn? That's not OK, and makes them a horrible person. It's not like it's some fine line.
