A-Rod and Pujols are probably the only 2 players in the league that every owner would pay everything they possibly could to have them on the team. That being said, they are probably both underpaid.

I wouldnt say he is overpaid b/c he is the League MVP and arguably the best player in the game. Pujols can also make a case for that one.
I think $25 million is excessive, but as long as he keeps on hitting 40+ HR, hits around .320 and plays Gold Glove defense, then you cant bitch. He does need to step it up when he gets into the playoffs, or his legacy will be someway tainted.

Pujols needs to be on the Underpaid list. Dude makes like $10 million a year and he is worth way more than that.

In 2006, the MLB Team luxury tax is set at $136.5 Million Dollars.

Is A-Rod worth 1/8th of the entire Yankee Roster?

Would you trade A-Rod for Pujols, Chris Carpenter, Jason Marquis and $1 Million?

Would you trade A-Rod for Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett and $8 Million ??

How about a trade with the Marlins??

A-Rod for Dontrelle Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Willingham and $20 Million.
(Who wouldn't make that trade???)

**************

A-Rod is a great player. He has 5 excellent tools... but he is most assuredly the Most Overpaid player in the MLB. and I wonder why they didn't put him on the list??

The only reason you would consider Pujols $14 Million as an underpayment is when you compare his to A-Rod's but when you look at team salaries and consider what % of the team's salary should go to their best players.. $10-$12 Million is about right for the top 10% of players..

The absolute BEST players should not make more than $15-$16 Million (IMO) - even on a team like the Yankees or Red Sox!
- Yes, Manny is overpaid!!

specious argument

25 million is not a difficult amount for the Yankees and is for the Royals.

Let's talk about money and baseball.... I'm down, you Yankees obsessing twit.

MLB's most overpaid players:

#1 Keith Foulke, Boston Red Sox
#2 Mike Lowell, Boston Red Sox

MLB's Highest Ticket Price

#1 Boston Red Sox

Go fuck yourself, as usual, Jack.

FoxSports had the article and I am just posting to keep this place active!!

A-Rod happens to be the highest paid player and is not mentioned as overpaid...

Yes, Foulke is overpaid, Lowell is overpaid, Red Sox Tickets are too expensive but people are willing to pay twice their Box Office price...

and $25 Million may not appear too much for the Yankees but...

I'll bet the Yankees would consider trading A- Rod for some decent pitching.. if any other team could afford him in trade..

Take A-Rod off the Yankees Roster and add Roy Oswalt and Pedro Martinez to the Yankees Pitching Staff and this team would finally win a World Series!!

Just b/c he is the highest paid player doesnt automatically make him "overpaid." Right now he is winning MVP's and playing at a high level. In say 3-4 years when his production drops due to age, wear and tear, then yes he will probably be overpaid.

Why don't you talk about your own team instead of obsessing over how much the Yankees pay their players.

It's all you do.

It's been done... to death.

I would have loved to have seen a take (OF YOURS) about Papelbon's first real struggles on the mound this year. When do you think they'll bring up Hansen and will that mean Papelbon gets put into the rotation. How about something about how horribly the Wily Mo Pena trade is affecting the Sox. Manny's struggles. Bard's dismal performances behind the plate trying to catch Wake. When do you think they'll pull off a trade that brings Mirabelli back?

No... let's post yet another thread about the fucking Yankees payroll. :meds:

Randy Johnson get shelled last night. That is news, if your every thought in this forum must be Yankees... all day... all night, at least keep it current.

Oh btw... the Boston Red Sox STILL hold the record for the highest payroll of any team to ever win the World Series.

First of all, everyone is overpaid...I think we can all agree on that. I think A-Rod is morbidly overpaid within the context of his own sport. Yes, he's one of the 5 most talented players in the game but he's the equivalent of Peyton Manning...great player, no championships and doesn't come up big in the clutch. Pujols is the best player in the game, he should be the highest paid...but not at $25 million a year.
