Fire on the Mountain

Post by Mikey »

Took this picture this morning up the street from our house at about 6:00 am.

7,000 evacuations in town, but it's still several miles from here and no danger unless the wind shifts.

Surely don't want to spend Christmas this year in a Motel 6.

There's a dragon with matches that's loose on the town
Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one

Thanks Dins. Someone must have been listening because it actually rained here a little while ago.
The scarlet begonias out in front are enjoying it too.

BTW...

This was recorded on my birthday in 1977 at the show that's considered by many to be the "best ever," whatever that means.

I wasn't there of course, but I've listened to the boxed set a couple or 50 times. It's definitely in the top tier.

Mikey, glad the homestead is safe.

As for Barton Hall, it may be my favorite, but not sure how anyone can say which show was the "best."

Yeah, for me the "best" has to be one that I was at, or how would I really know?

That would be the five night run at Winterland in October of 1974 when they announced beforehand that they would indefinitely stop touring afterwards. We went to the final three shows, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Quite a trip.

They made The Grateful Dead Movie and the Steal Your Face album from those shows. Sound quality on the album was fucked up because of some kind of sound system anomaly, but the shows were memorable.

Are you in an evac warning area?

We're a couple of miles S X SE from the evac warning.

Funny because there were also Public Safety Power Shutoff warnings this morning from SDG&E due to the Santa Anas, and none even near Fallbrook.
