DC would take a Constitutional Amendment.

I believe the same applies to court packing.

If you fukk a want to keep Justices on your end of the bench, how about you tell them when it’s time to hang it up.

If RBG cared about anything other than holding onto power for as long as she could, she’d have stepped down in about 2014. That would have assured another commie in her spot.

The republicans are gonna jam another Justice up the dems ass for one simple reason.

And anyone who pretends that the Dems wouldn't do the same, were the situation reversed is completely full of shit.

He also pointed out that this all goes back to Harry Reid.

HE was the one who wiped his ass with the filibuster rule to stuff Obamacare up the Republican's shitpipe. HE set the precedent so the dems get to live with the consequences.

As for the Dems saying "If you do this, we'll stack the court", does anyone with a shred of brain activity not think the dems will do that and anything else they can get away with, anyway.

The bottom line here is that the Republicans are playing by the rules and using them to their full advantage. Compare this to the shameless attempted coup which is dems started 5 minutes after the election.

I’m not generally in favor of “packing” the SC but, if your Dear Leader and his chelonian little Caporegime succeed in ramming this appointment through, it would be completely justified and I hope they do it.

Now that the Dumpster has heard of the concept, likely for the first time, I expect he’s probably trying to figure out a way to do it himself. If the knuckledraggers somehow keep the White House and their Senate majority I fully expect him to start pushing appointment of a couple dozen Tom Cotton clones by the end of November.

I think we can find some bipartisanship in the idea of senile people in important government roles.

It's a shame the dems are running one for the top spot.

It would be nice if we could have a little bit of sanity and carved in stone rules.

Here are a few.....

Retirement age of 70....,.for all federal elected officials.

All nominees presented by the Prez get a speedy vote within 2 weeks of pic. No more Kavanaugh witch hunt shit shows.

70 votes needed for first nominee. Lower numbers for 2nd or 3rd in the event that the minority party thinks it can simply veto everyone. Of course, the majority party could play cute with such a rule by intentionally voting against initial pics, so this gets a little tricky.

9 justices. No more.

The idea that the ruling party can simply pack their way to a majority is stupid. We've been pretty good at avoiding, other than that time FDR thought he'd pack his way to a socialist utopia.

It's time for a Constitutional Convention to settle this and a few other things that have been debated forever such as WTF does "regulated militia" mean or the horrible Roe V Wade decision.

BTW, if you bother to read Roe, it's actually a pretty sensible compromise.

Would have made a good law. But Judges aren't supposed to make laws. They are supposed to follow them.

And last but not least, we need to move the 10th Amendment up a little in the rankings to maybe 3. If we simply start following it, fully, we might find that we could stop this coming civil war over who is in charge, because it really wouldn't matter much.

DC's role could get back to international affairs and not a hell of a lot else.
